Provides an overview of issues related to substance abuse. Addresses the role of social workers and other helping professionals, models of addiction, treatment and recovery. Introduces evidence-based intervention strategies and the effects of addiction on family systems and communities.This is a designated EXL course.

Examines culturally appropriate practice issues that are essential considerations for effective service delivery, including African American families and ethnic subcultures predominant in the U.S. This is a designated Engage! course.
