As You Are Therapy

Clinical Practitioner

While my time is limited as I balance doctoral coursework with my role as an adjunct professor at MTSU, I continue to maintain a small client caseload with As You Are Therapy through virtual sessions. Staying connected to direct practice matters to me, not only because it reinforces the purpose behind this work, but because it keeps me grounded while I am immersed in statistics, research methods, and theory. That ongoing connection to people and their lived realities keeps my academic work aligned with the practical concerns that first drew me to this profession.

--

Life’s not about being perfect—it’s about being real. Let’s be honest: when something isn’t working, and the cycle needs to stop, it often signals a desire for change. Whether it’s a feeling of being stuck, relationships that keep going off track, or a sense of losing direction and hope, I want to be a support to help navigate these challenges. The goal is to cut through the noise and identify the core barriers that hinder progress, creating a path toward a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.

Why I Do This Work

I came into this helping arena after two decades of leadership in the business world. Having experienced a few of those curveballs myself, my life and career are now shaped by my commitment to empowering others—whether it’s students in the classroom or clients ready to take ownership of their lives. I’ve also been a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, which means I understand the hard, messy, and deeply personal process of change – because I’ve lived it.

"My job isn’t to fix anyone"

As a faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University, I teach with the same principles I bring into therapy: empowerment through engagement, knowledge, critical thought, and action. I believe that every person has the capacity for growth when given the tools, support, and space to figure it out for themselves. My job isn’t to fix anyone—it’s to help tap into the strength, experience, and ability my clients already possess.
